Outside The Window

One Sunday my family and I went to church and we learned about the famine in East Africa. Inspired by the message, I drew the disparity behind the prosperous side of the world and the poverty-ridden side of the world. The girl who depicts prosperity is looking beyond the world around her and into the world suppressed by indigence for the first step to solving a problem is to face it. Behind chains that represent poverty, the boys are expressing a desire to be freed from pain and from the distressing conditions of poverty. However, the girl's reflection in the window is also chained with the boys because as humans we all share a common humanity.
